Beat Wenger joined Scouting as a Cub Scout in 1973 and has been an active Scout ever since. He became a Troop Leader at the age of 17 and was later the District Chief Scout of the Bernese Oberland in Switzerland. Following his role as a member of the World Rover Moot Committee in 1992, he was asked to join the Kandersteg International Scout Centre Committee, where he served as Chairman of the Executive Committee for a number of years. Currently, he is the Chairman of the Kandersteg International Scout Centre Foundation. Beat joined the BP Fellowship in 2006 in San Francisco, held a seat on the WOSM Finance Committee between 2010 and 2016, became a Regal Circle Member in 2018 and was elected to the WSF Board in 2022. In addition to his dedication to numerous roles in the global Scout community, he is still active in his old local Rover group. 

Became a member of the World Baden-Powell Fellowship in 2006 and joined the WSF Board in 2022.

Beat pursued studies in business and following visiting semesters at Denver University, USA and the Université Paul-Valéry in France, he graduated with an MBA from the Business School in Bern. He then joined Swatch Ltd. where he held the positions of International Controller and International Operations Manager for several years. 

In 1998, Beat founded his own company in the health care sector. He is majority owner and Chairman of the Board of Wefina Holding Ltd. which specialises in developing, building, owning and operating residences for retirees in Switzerland. Additionally, he served and is still active on boards of several major Swiss companies and organisations. 

Beat lives in the heart of Switzerland at Lake Thun and in his spare time, together with friends and family, enjoys all kinds of water and mountain sports, especially skiing and ski touring, for which he is a qualified instructor. He is particularly interested in culture, economy, music, architecture and politics. 

His dedication to the World Scout Movement is based on the firm belief that Scouting offers the best possible way for young people to develop their skills and personality and that empowered young people are the key to the future.
