Messengers of Peace

Over the last 10 years, Scouts have completed over 16 million projects and initiatives in local communities worldwide, as part of the Messengers of Peace initiative, contributing over 2.7 billion hours of community service to tackle local issues.
Messengers of Peace inspires and enables Scouts worldwide to lead positive action in their communities, contributing to peace and sustainable development and the simplicity of what Scouts do is the key to its success. Scouts identify a project based on the local needs of their communities, take part in an action to address the need and they share their experiences online to encourage peer-to-peer learning and sharing via global networks, which encourages other young people worldwide to replicate their ideas and initiatives and take action where it’s most needed. This creates impact on an unprecedented scale! For every funded project through this initiative (532), an additional 30,000 projects have taken place.
Projects include activities to foster peace and dialogue in communities facing conflict; emergency response; support for gender equality; the integration of refugees; the provision of clean water in schools and communities; food security programmes; environmental conservation; and more — all driving meaningful progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and driving positive change in local communities, worldwide.
