Honour the Legacy. Fund the Future.
Today, we are proud to launch the King’s Appeal — a time-bound, global campaign honouring His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden’s nearly 50 years of service as Honorary Chair of the World Scout Foundation and His 80th Birthday.
A Scout since he was a child, His Majesty believes deeply in Scouting’s power to shape young people as leaders and peacemakers grounded in values and service to others. His personal experience has guided his lifelong dedication to the Scout Movement and his steadfast belief in Scouts as a powerful force for good — supported and amplified by their volunteer leaders and the unwavering commitment of the BP Fellowship.
In today’s increasingly fragile and divided world, Scouting has never been more relevant or more needed. We share His Majesty’s belief in Scouting’s values-based leadership education, encouraging young people to foster dialogue, bridge divides and lead service projects, and laying the foundations for a more peaceful and inclusive world.
What better way therefore to honour His legacy than by giving to the King’s Appeal? Generous contributions will be allocated to the King’s Fund to power Scout initiatives focused on peacebuilding, inclusion and leadership development.
The King’s Appeal will culminate in a deeply symbolic moment for our BP Fellowship when we formally present the King’s Fund to His Majesty during the 78th BP Fellowship Event in Stockholm, at the Gala Dinner on 9 May 2026 — an iconic evening celebrating a remarkable leader, a legacy of service and a shared commitment to Scouting’s future.
Contributions to the King’s Fund will support Scout projects worldwide focused on peacebuilding, community engagement, and transformative youth leadership — especially in complex and fragile contexts — ensuring that more young people, especially those facing exclusion or conflict, can access Scouting and create positive change where it’s needed most.
The leadership and generosity of our global network of BP Fellows is central to this legacy. A peaceful and inclusive world starts with us — and our support ensures Scouts can create that world in communities across the globe. As part of this once-in-a-generation appeal, we will proudly recognise the commitment of BP Fellows who choose to honour the King’s legacy by investing in Scouting’s future. We have communicated directly with our BP Fellowship via personalised email and outreach. If you wish to find out more, please contact Mischa Rychener, Director of Philanthropy.
