Brazil Scouts support communities devastated by flooding

Brazil Scouts — Escoteiros do Brasil — have mobilised swiftly to support their communities in the wake of devastating floods in the State of Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil. Scouts from across the country are supporting the efforts of local Scouts according to a comprehensive response plan, working with government officials to address immediate needs and prepare for the long-term recovery and reconstruction.
The situation is dire and the Scouts need our help. As rains continue to pour down on the state, the death toll has risen to over 140 and over 538,000 people are now displaced out of a state population of around 10.9 million.
You can boost Scouts’ efforts by supporting the emergency appeal here, as launched by the Escoteiros do Brasil (National Scout Organization) on the Scout Donation Platform.
Your donations will help Scouts to sustain their immediate relief efforts and, when possible, to facilitate long-term recovery and reconstruction, including:
- Distribution of humanitarian aid
- Providing hygiene kits of essential items;
- Dispensing first aid kits of basic medicines and wound care supplies to address immediate needs among survivors
- Distributing cleaning supplies to support sanitation of homes and areas affected to maintain a safe and healthy environment
- Supporting Scouts and communities:
- Establishing temporary shelters to provide refuge for displaced individuals, offering essential assistance and support services.
- Distributing food baskets containing nutritious meals and potable water to ensure food security for affected families.
- Setting up temporary animal shelters in local Scout groups to provide care and protection for pets and other animals impacted by the disaster.
