HRH Prince Guillaume is the eldest son of TRH Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg. Strongly attached to His family’s traditions, He proudly follows in the footsteps of his grandfather, Grand Duke Jean, who was a member of the World Baden-Powell Fellowship and much-loved head of the Luxembourgish Scouts until His passing in 2019. Since 4 October 2019, HRH Prince Guillaume is the Chief Scout of Scouting in Luxembourg.

HRH Prince Guillaume became a member of the “Wëllefcher” (Cub Scouts) at the age of eight and was an active member of the Scouts for many years. During the summer of 1997, He travelled with the Luxembourgish Scouts to Nepal to work at a humanitarian aid camp. This experience led Him to become more invested in humanitarian issues in general, as well as in living the values of solidarity and cooperation. He later went on to take part in a reforestation project and in various other activities aimed at assisting disadvantaged communities.

Joined the WSF Board in 2017 and became a member of the World Baden-Powell Fellowship in 2018.

From September 2001 until August 2002, HRH Prince Guillaume underwent officer training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom. He was commissioned as an officer in the Luxembourg Army in December 2002. He also developed a keen interest in the significant geopolitical events of our time and after studying political science in the United Kingdom and in France, He took part in the United Nation’s “Millennium Conference” in New York in 2005.

In 2017, HRH Prince Guillaume was appointed as a Board Member of the World Scout Foundation supporting, through this, the Scout Movement in Luxembourg and throughout the world. He considers the fundamental values of Scouting an important asset to promote the creation of a peaceful and harmonious society.

HRH Prince Guillaume served as Chair of the Foundation from September 2021 until October 2023.
