LIMA, Peru - The rains keep falling in Peru swelling the muddy flood waters that are leaving thousands of people stranded on the top of buildings and cars.
And as the heavy rain stops the Scouts have been - as the Scouting motto goes - well prepared and ready to act!
The immediate need at the flash points of the floods has been to provide dry clothing and fresh water. These instant reactions by thousands of Scouts on hundreds of local communities has led to a partnership with Plan International. As the rains stop in a town heavily hit, Scouts have been preparing temporary hospital facilities for the Plan International to take and treat patients. The Scouts are preparing the foundations for other agencies to follow with their expertise. They are a vital cog in the disaster response operation in Peru and they will continue to support their communities as long as their help is needed.
